Banana Nut Bread
2/3 cup shortening
1 2/3 cup sugar
2 1/2 cups sifted flour
1 1/4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp soda
1 tsp salt
1 1/4 cup sieved bananas
2.3 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup (2 large) eggs
2/3 cup chopped nuts
Stir shortening just to soften.  Sift in dry ingredients, add bananas 
and half of the buttermilk.  Mix until flour is dampened, beat hard  
for 2 minutes.  Add remaining buttermilk and eggs.  Beat 2 
minutes longer.  Fold in nuts.  Bake at 300.
